West County Resource Center

Resource Center ClientsA multi-service center in its 11th year of operations, the West County Resource Center provides basic services, case management, referral services, and a wide range of on-site activities and auxiliary services provided through collaborative service providers. Office hours are 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Basic Services, available to all homeless individuals and families include: shower and laundry facilities, mailing addresses, telephone access, entrée to noon-day meals, shelter and pantry listings.

Case Management Services, for motivated homeless clients who desire self-sufficiency and permanent housing. Services in addition to basic services, above, include: vocational and housing assistance, work clothing, transportation, voice mail, identification support/birth certificates, and benefits advocacy.

Auxiliary services include medical services, referrals and prescriptions, available every Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. by Contra Costa County 's Homeless Health Team; and food vouchers for redemption at the Richmond Food Bank, issued on Tuesdays and Friday s,  from 12:00-2:00 p.m.

Referral services are provided by a number of homeless services providers, including: Legal representation by The Hawkins Center on claims filed for SSI and SSDI disability benefits; emergency housing and shelter for women and families provided by the Bay Area Rescue Mission; programs to support homeless youth by Opportunity West, Inc.; voice mail services by the Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'is of Martinez; services that support and protect families, individuals and children in need and promote independence and self-sufficiency by Contra Costa County Workforce Services; emergency, one-time assistance for families provided by Contra Costa County Employment and Human Services Department in cooperation with the Season of Sharing Program; and, transitional opportunities, vocational counseling training and placement assistance to homeless persons by Rubicon Programs, Inc.

The Resource Center provides case management for all families residing in the GRIP Family Housing Program. Each resident family will have a case management plan and must be active in pursuing plan objectives as a condition of maintaining residence in emergency shelter or transitional housing.
