On any given night, more than 4,000 residents of Contra Costa County alone are homeless, and over 15,000 County residents will experience homelessness over the course of a year, including some 7,000 children. City and County resources are thin, and shelters have closed this past year, further reducing shelter opportunities; families in need of immediate shelter have fewer and fewer beds available to them. Moreover, public support services, such as hospitals and clinics are also closing due to constraints in public funds, while the foreclosures and other economic issues confound the problem and fuel the need for our services.
For 40 years, GRIP has been working to end family homelessness in West Contra Costa County and address critical issues of human dignity and justice. An interfaith, multi-racial coalition of congregations - Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims and Sikh - and secular partners, GRIP provides homeless families with meals, shelter and supportive services to help them become self-sufficient.

Planned Gifts - A Lasting Legacy
Planned Gifts take many forms and can provide GRIP with ongoing support while securing your legacy and investing in the work of creating a society where people's basic needs of food and shelter are met. Planned gifts can also help you reduce capital gains taxes, provide income tax deductions, and even generate a stream of income for life. Planned gifts can be in the form of appreciated assets such as stocks, bonds and real property, and can take two forms:
- Direct Bequests: Designated donations directly from your estate,
-
Life Income Gifts: These are gifts which generate tax sheltered income for you for the remainder of your life .These include the charitable gift annuity, charitable remainder annuity trust, or a pooled income fund.
A charitable lead trust can be an excellent way to pass assets to your heirs, while providing resources to GRIP Programs for a term of years.
