24th Annual GRIP Harmony Walk to End Hunger
At the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program (GRIP), we have taken a stand to fight hunger and homelessness. We will be hosting the 24th Annual Harmony Walk on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Richmond Civic Center Plaza to raise awareness of this growing social issue. The Harmony walk is a 4-mile walk in which community members, business representatives and public officials unite and walk/run to raise funds to benefit GRIP’s homeless service programs, which serve Contra Costa County. We anticipate attendance of more than 1,000 community stakeholders at this year’s event.
100% of Funds raised from the 24th Annual Harmony Walk will benefit our homeless service programs, which include: the Family Housing Program, the Permanent Supportive Housing Program for chronically homeless individuals and the West County Resource Center, which provides the homeless with showers, laundry facilities, mailing addresses, email, internet, phone access and the Souper Center, which provides hot meals to all hungry and homeless persons in West Contra Costa County. These programs and services are vital to the community and benefit more than 15,000 homeless individuals and families in Contra Costa County annually.

About GRIP
Founded in 1966, GRIP, or the Greater Richmond Interfaith Program, is an interfaith, multi-cultural coalition with 41 member organizations/congregations -- working together to address critical issues of human dignity and social justice. GRIP celebrates the diversity of our multi-cultural community and draws upon a variety of traditions and cultures. Responding to a call to service, GRIP transforms the lives of disenfranchised, homeless, and hungry.
Through both advocacy and education, we strive to tackle the root causes of homelessness and hunger. For over 40 years, GRIP has been providing services to the community, and for over 20 years, food, shelter and supportive services to the homeless population, primarily in West Contra Costa County, but also all over the SF Bay Area. Today, GRIP's focus is on three core initiatives: providing food, shelter and supportive services to help homeless families transition to self-sufficiency.
