Values & Principles

GRIP’s Values

GRIP is an organization of religious congregations from a wide variety of traditions and varied cultures.

GRIP provides the opportunity for these diverse groups to work together in mutual self-respect, to carry out a deeply felt commitment to healing the world around us.

GRIP not only reacts to emerging crises, but also proactively seeks solutions to problems and events before they happen.

GRIP seeks to address the issues of justice that affect the poor and the disenfranchised so as to empower all people to achieve the blessings that God intends for each of us.

GRIP’s Guiding Principles

  1. Basic Needs for Stable Lives: We are dedicated to providing food and shelter, as well as support and prevention-based services to help community members in need achieve self-sufficiency.
  2. Results Oriented: We employ proactive solutions built on trust and designed to achieve results, including employment and permanent supported housing.
  3. Values Driven: In abiding by our interfaith members’ shared traditions and principles, we strive to further social responsibility, justice, and spiritual healing in all of our activities.
  4. Life Affirming: By recognizing our common humanity, we celebrate life, dignity, and faith in our strategic efforts to end homelessness, hunger, and disenfranchisement.
  5. Collaborations and Partnerships: We reach out to other groups, agencies and individuals to support and carry out our work together.
  6. Diverse and Inclusive: We’ve assembled a coalition that is both diverse and inclusive, and these twin values are infused throughout all levels of the organization and our work.
  7. Interfaith Relationships: Our broad interfaith relationships throughout the Bay Area afford opportunities for all faith-based and secular communities and individuals to embrace the sacred service of assisting the impoverished; with a focus on healing, and a commitment to transforming lives.
